Sunny Fitzgerald Al Hawamdeh is a Jordan-based writer and sustainable travel specialist. Her work appears in National Geographic, The New York Times, Lonely Planet, BBC Travel, and beyond. She is also a Professional Member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA), a Media Member of the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), and Head of Global Partnerships at Academic Experiences Abroad.  

Small town friendly. Big city savvy.

Sunny grew up in a small town in the Adirondack Mountains, but was determined to live big - adventuring to Asia, Latin America, South Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. She has destination expertise in over 20 countries including Jordan and Costa Rica, a BA in International Studies from Middlebury College, an MA in Cultural Sustainability, certification in Sustainable Tourism, and more than a decade of experience designing international programs for adventurous and conscientious travelers.
